Winter Lifestyle Guide: Cozy Activities Around the Eastside and Greater Seattle
As the days get colder and the holiday lights start popping up everywhere, winter is one of the best times to enjoy the cozy side of life on both the Eastside and throughout Greater Seattle. Whether you’re looking for something relaxing, festive, active, or kid-friendly, here are some fun ideas to help you make the most of the season:
1. Hot Yoga Warm-Up (one of my favorites!)
Studios around Kirkland, Bellevue, Redmond, and Seattle offer heated classes that feel amazing this time of year. It’s the perfect way to warm up, reset, and squeeze in some movement. My favorite hot yoga studio is Be One Yoga, they have 2 locations in Kirkland & Bellevue.
2. Holiday Strolls and Waterfront Lights
Kirkland’s waterfront, Carillon Point, Bellevue Downtown Park, and Seattle’s waterfront all light up beautifully this time of year. Grab a cocoa, enjoy the twinkle lights, and take in the views.
3. Ice Skating in Bellevue or Seattle
Bellevue Downtown Park transforms into a seasonal skating rink, and Seattle Center’s Winterfest adds an extra magical backdrop. Great for families, date nights, or a fun outing with friends.
4. Explore Local Coffee Shops
Winter is the perfect excuse to try new cozy coffee spots. The Eastside and Seattle both have amazing options—Mercurys, Café Ladro, Milstead & Co., Elm Coffee Roasters, and Kitanda are always favorites.
5. A Quick Winter Getaway to the Mountains
When you’re ready for snow, Snoqualmie Pass, Stevens Pass, and Crystal Mountain are all easy day trips. Whether it’s skiing, tubing, or just enjoying fresh mountain air, they’re always worth the drive.
6. Indoor Family Adventures
Think Pacific Science Center, MOHAI, KidsQuest Children’s Museum in Bellevue, or the Seattle Aquarium. Perfect for rainy days when the kids need something fun to burn energy.
Living in this area means you get the best of both worlds: cozy indoor days, festive city energy, and easy access to outdoor adventures. Whether you’re new to the area or thinking about making a move, winter is one of the best seasons to get a taste of the lifestyle here.
